NIHB Counselling Support in Smiths Falls
A Safe, Supportive Space for healing & connection
This is a space where you can begin exactly where you are—without pressure, without expectation, and without judgement.
You may be carrying a lot, whether that’s stress, grief, past experiences, or things that are hard to put into words. In our work together, there is room for all of it.
This is a space where you can:
Speak openly without judgement
Feel seen, heard, and respected
Move at your own pace, without being rushed
Take the time you need to build trust and comfort
Explore your experiences in a way that feels safe for you
Express emotions that may have been held in for a long time
There is no “right” way to show up here. Whether you feel overwhelmed, unsure, or even hesitant to begin, that’s okay.
Together, we focus on creating a sense of safety and connection—so that healing can happen in a way that feels steady, supported, and meaningful.
Your story matters, and your experiences are honoured here.
At Watkins Counselling & Wellness, Joe-Ann provides counselling support for First Nations and Inuit individuals seeking a safe, supportive space to explore their experiences and move toward healing.
As an NIHB-approved provider, direct billing is available, helping to reduce financial barriers so you can focus on your wellbeing.
Counselling services are also available for Métis clients through private pay or other coverage options.
When it feels like you’re carrying too much
You might be feeling:
Overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally exhausted
Disconnected from yourself, others, or your sense of identity
Navigating grief, loss, or life transitions
Struggling to feel understood or supported
You may not have the words for what you’re experiencing—and that’s okay.
You don’t have to carry this alone.
What NIHB Support Can Look Like
Counselling is not one-size-fits-all. Your experiences, your story, and your goals are unique—and your sessions will reflect that.
Together, we can gently explore:
Anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm
Self-esteem, identity, and sense of self
Relationship challenges and communication patterns
Grief, loss, and life transitions
Trauma and emotional wounds
Feeling disconnected from yourself or others
Navigating difficult life experiences or changes
We move at a pace that feels right for you, taking time to understand what you’re going through and what support looks like in your life.
Our work may include:
Talking through what’s been weighing on you
Making sense of emotions that feel confusing or overwhelming
Identifying patterns that may be keeping you stuck
Building tools to help you cope and feel more grounded
Strengthening your sense of self and inner resilience
You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting. You don’t need the “right words.” We simply begin where you are.
Sessions are guided by your needs, your goals, and what feels most supportive to you—creating a space where change can happen in a way that feels safe and sustainable.
